Mandacaru Dress is 100% modal fabric, a comfortable and soft fiber. Allows the skin to breathe and maintains its characteristics even after several washings. Her skirt is fluid and has a slight ruffle at the front neckline for movement.
Both the front and back necklines are made of 100% cotton lace by the lacemakers of Saubara, Bahia.
The technique of weaving with "bilros" (or sewing lace, as said in Saubara) has existed in the territory for more than four centuries. Learning the technique passes from mother to daughter and is very affective. As it is a female and domestic technique, the exchange take place in an environment of intimacy and it starts like a game.
In the process, the lacemaker sits down in front of the cushion that supports the risk and from which the "bilbos" attached by the thread will form the lace. In the "bilbos" dance made by the hands, the pins define the path of the lace, holding the braid that takes shape.
